Skei Mining Consultant (SMC) is a one person private company, run by Dr. Jens Skei, marine geochemist and professor at the University of Oslo (1990-2000).
The company is registered as a business enterprise in the Brønnøysund Register Centre (org.no. 998 645 042).
Dr. Skei has worked as a geochemist and marine chemist for 37 years at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research, following his Ph.D-dissertation in 1975 at Grant Institute of Geology, University of Edinburgh, UK.
His experience is related to R&D with emphases on marine sediments and disposal of mine tailings to the sea. He is experienced in environmental impact assessments (EIA), environmental evaluations, advisory work for industry and regulatory agencies as well as monitoring of the marine environment. During Dr. Skei’s long working career he has developed a comprehensive network in industry, regulatory bodies, NGOs, and in the scientific community.
37 years at NIVA as a scientist and partly administrator and working in a multidisciplinary environment, have offered unique opportunities for network building - nationally as well as internationally.
